C6H5CH3 + O2 -> CO2 + H2o

a C6H5CH3 + b O2 -> c CO2 + d H2o

2b = 2c+d = 2 x 7a + 4a = 18a
2b = 18a ie, b = 9a

a=1 ആയാല്‍ c=7, d=4, b=9

KMnO4 + FeSO4 + H2SO4 -------> MnSO4 + Fe2(SO4)3 + K2SO4+H2O

ഗുണോത്തരങ്ങള്‍ a,b,c,d,e,f,g എന്നിവ ആയാല്‍

a KMnO4 + b FeSO4 + c H2SO4 -------> d MnSO4 + e Fe2(SO4)3 + f K2SO4+ g H2O

a=2f, a=d, b=2e, 4a+4b+4c = 4d+12e+4f+g
b+c=d+3e+f
2c=2g
a=1/4 g , b = 5/4 g , c=g, d=1/4 g , e= 5/8 g, f = 1/8 g
a= 1/4 x 8 = 2 ; b = 10, c=8, d=2, e=5, f=1
2KMno4 + 10FeSO4 + 8H2SO4 -------> 2MnSO4 + 5Fe2(SO4)3 + K2SO4+ 8H2O

This is not a new finding. It is simply an application of linear equations in the situation. Occasinally we use these techniques in physics( dimensional analysis),mathematuical economics( Profoit analysis) operation research and some other situations,I got the first information about this nearly 16 years back when I was in Rishi valley school Andraprdesh . It is just a recollection.I hope this will help our science teachers and mathematics lovers

let A,B are the centres of the circles and C,D are the intersecting points. the common portionis CBDA .DRAW CD.join AB,BC,BD.We get a sector there.let P be the inter secting point.
Consider the rt angled triangle APB. the sides are R/2,R*root3/2,R.
SO THE SIDES ARE IN THE RATIO 1:root3:2. the agles are 30,60,90.
so the angle of sector =2*60=120.
AREA of common portion is 2*(area of sector-area of triangle)
=2*(pai R square*120/360- 2*1/2*root3/2*1/2)
=2(pai R sq*1/3-root3/4)

An ant, located in a square field, is 13 meters from one of the corner posts of the field, 17 meters from the corner post diagonally opposite that one, and 20 meters from a third corner post.

Find the area of the field ?

Muraleedharan.C.R October 29, 2009 at 3:21 PM

Azeez sir
qn. is not clear
A square have 2 diagonals with equal measure
ie its area=(1/2)*d*d
ie (1/2)*30*30=450 sq.meter
the measure from 3rd corner is not necessary

AZEEZ October 29, 2009 at 3:49 PM

The Position of the Ant is not in the diagonalof the square.

Diagonally opposit means just opposit corner.
ie if ABCD are the corners then,
the Ant is 13M from A,20M from B & 17m from c.(C is the opposit corner to A)I think it is clear now?
Thanks

VIJAYAN N M October 29, 2009 at 4:54 PM

if the area 1s 400sq metres one case fails(5sq+12sq=13sq,8sq+15sq=17sq,12sq+15sq not equals 20 sq).if the area is 441sq second case fails(5sq+12sq=13sq,16sq+12sq=20sq,16sq+9sq notequals 17sq) so the ant can walk inside the field with area 400 sq metres.

when x=10, angle B=30 & angle D=100
since 100 is less than 150 (180-30),the point D is outside the circle

Multiplication by 9, 99, 999 and so on

When any number has to be multiplied by a series of 9s, like 9, 99, 999, 9999 and so on than we can apply this very simple vedic maths technique to increase your speed of calculation.

we know, 789 × 999 = 788,211

You will get the answers in two parts,

* The left hand side of the answer: subtract 1 from 789, which is 788
* The right hand side of the answer subtract 789 from 1000 = 1000-789= 211

Thus, 999 x 789 = 789-1 | 1000-789 = 788, 211 (answer)

{for the right hand side of the answer, 789 should be subtracted from (999+1)}

or, 99999 x 78 = 78-1 | 100000 – 78

= 7799922

{78 should be subtracted from (99999+1)}

Another example:

1203579 × 9999999 = 1203579-1 | 10000000- 1203579

=120357887964 21

Number in red is 1 less than 1203579. Number in blue is (10000000-1203579). Hence the answer.

This method has to be altered a little bit when number of 9s are lessers than the number of digit in the divisor.

1432 x 9 = 1432 (10 – 1) = 14320 – 1432 = 12888

So for multiplication with 9, put a zero after that number and subtract the number itself from that.

Likewise for 99 put two zeroes after that number .

3256 x 99 = 325600 – 3256 = 322344

dear azees, the ant is wandering in the square field of 400,441 sq metres for the last 48 hours.help the ant to get a correct position(13,17,20 :these three hypotanues have the sides 5&12,15&8,16&12) but it never happen to get a correct position.

AZEEZ October 31, 2009 at 3:53 PM

Label the vertices of the square A, B, C, D. The ant is at point P, with PB = 13, PC = 20, PD = 17.

Rotate CDP 90° counterclockwise about C, so that D goes to B, and P goes to Q.

By definition, QCP = 90°

Hence, by Pythagoras' Theorem, PQ = 20root2.

Also, since PQC is isosceles, CPQ = 45°.

Applying the law of cosines to BQP
17square = 13square + (20root2)2 − 2 · 13 · 20root2 · cos QPB.

Simplifying, we find cos QPB = 17root2 / 26.
Then sin2 QPB = 1 − cos2 QPB

= 49/338.
Hence sin QPB = 7root2 / 26.

We have CPB = QPB + CPQ = QPB + 45°

.Hence cos CPB = cos (QPB + 45°)
= cos QPB·cos45°−sin QPB·sin 45°

(cos(a+b)=cos a·cos b−sin a·sin b) =(cosQPB/root2 - sin QPB/root2)
= (10 / 26) = 5/13
Applying the law of cosines to CPB
BCsquare = 20square + 13square − 2 · 20 · 13 · (5/13) = 369.
Therefore the area of the field is 369 m2.
I cannot post the picture. Without picture i can explain only this much. If you can't understand try to solve yourself with the given description. I am sorry.

You can solve also solve this problem only using geometry. Try.

Thanks

To Murali sir
I saw your answer
D is outside the circle
Which circle?
I think You meant the circumcircle of new triangle in which angle b = 30 angle D =100.
The question is different
A triange and its circumcircle is given in the figure
In the first case D= 144 and B= 36
when D = 100,B becomes 30 so circle and triange changes.How can we say D is on the first triangle?

bhama October 31, 2009 at 9:33 PM

@ JOHN SIR,
In the question it is given that Circum circle is drawn for triangle ABC. Angle B= 3x and Angle D = x*x is also given.
here x is a variable and it can be any value.
According to the value of x Angle B and Angle D changes.
Here the circum circle is drawn to triangle ABC . So the position of D depends upon the value of x.

JOHN P A November 1, 2009 at 11:48 AM

Azeez sirs new question of inscribed square in a triange is A GOOD PROBLEM FOR IX STANDARD SIMILARITY OF TRIANGLES.
STEP 1
Draw the diagram. ABC is the triangle.
and PQRS Is the square.draw AD prpendicular to BC
step 2
Use Hero"s formula and find the area of trangle ABC. Area is 84
We can write 84 = 1/2 *21* AD
AD = h = 8
Step 3
ADSC is a right triangle.By pythagoros theorem AD= 6 and DC = 15
step 4
Take pS = x and BS = Y
triangles ADB and PSB are similar
( 8/x)=6/y
8y = 6x
Triangles ADc and QRC are similar
8/x =15/21-x-y
x= 5.79 this is the side of the square
