എറണാകുളം നഗരത്തിന്റെ തിരക്കില്‍ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയിലൂടെ ഒരു വിധത്തില്‍ ബൈക്കില്‍ മുന്നോട്ട് പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കവേയാണ് അവന്റെ കോള്‍ വന്നത്. നിര്‍ത്താതെയുള്ള മൊബൈല്‍നാദം അറിയാതെ റോഡിന്റെ ഇടതു വശത്തേക്ക് തിരിക്കാന്‍ ബൈക്ക് ഹാന്‍റിലിനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചു. ഫോണിന്‍റെ പച്ചബട്ടണില്‍ വിരലമര്‍ത്തി. മലബാറിന്‍റെ ചുവയുള്ള മലയാളത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ പരാതിയുടെ കെട്ടഴിച്ചു. നമ്മുടെ ബ്ലോഗിലൂടെ ഒരു ചോദ്യം ചോദിച്ചിട്ട് ആരും മറുപടി കൊടുത്തില്ലായെന്നത്രേ. എന്തോ, എന്റെയോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ടീമംഗങ്ങളുടേയോ ശ്രദ്ധയില്‍ അത് പെട്ടിരുന്നില്ലായെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. സോറി, കുട്ടാ. അഭിനന്ദനത്തോടെ അവനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് പോക്കറ്റിലെ ഒരു കടലാസില്‍ ചോദ്യം ഞാന്‍ കുത്തിക്കുറിച്ചെടുത്തു. അവനോടേതോ സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ ചോദിച്ച ചോദ്യമാണത്രേ അത്. ഉടനെ ഉത്തരം കിട്ടുമെന്ന വിശ്വാസത്തോടെയാണ് അക്ഷരത്തെറ്റോടെയാണെങ്കിലും മലയാളത്തില്‍ ഈ ചോദ്യം ചോദിച്ചത്. കുറേ ദിവസം കാത്തെങ്കിലും നിരാശയായിരുന്നു ഫലം. എങ്കില്‍പ്പിന്നെ നേരിട്ട് ചോദിച്ചിട്ടാകട്ടെ കാര്യം എന്ന് കരുതിയാണ് ഫോണ്‍ നമ്പര്‍ തപ്പിയെടുത്തുള്ള ഈ വിളി. ക്ലാസില്‍ ഈ ബ്ലോഗ് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊടുത്ത അവന്റെ അഞ്ജലി ടീച്ചര്‍ക്ക് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് ചോദ്യം ഞാന്‍ ആവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.
ഒരാളുടെ കയ്യില്‍ ആയിരം രൂപയുണ്ട്. അയാള്‍ക്ക് ആയിരം മൃഗങ്ങളെ വാങ്ങണം. ആട്, ആന, കുതിര എന്നീ മൃഗങ്ങളെയാണ് ആവശ്യം. ഒരു ആടിന്‍റെ വില 50 പൈസ, ആനയുടെ വില 50 രൂപ, കുതിരയുടെ വില 10 രൂപ. ഏതെല്ലാം ക്രമത്തില്‍ വാങ്ങിയാല്‍ പ്രശ്നം നിര്‍ദ്ധാരണം ചെയ്യാം. ഈ പ്രശ്നത്തിന് എത്ര രീതിയില്‍ ഉത്തരം കണ്ടെത്താം?
കുറച്ചു നേരം ആലോചിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ത്തന്നെ എനിക്ക് ഒരു ഉത്തരം കിട്ടി. പക്ഷെ ഇവിടെ നമുക്ക് ഒരു ഉത്തരം മാത്രമല്ലല്ലോ ലഭിക്കുക. ഒന്ന് കുത്തിയിരുന്നാല്‍ ഒട്ടേറെ ഉത്തരങ്ങള്‍ കിട്ടിയേക്കാം. അങ്ങനെ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ഉത്തരങ്ങള്‍ ആരാണ് പോസ്റ്റു ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്നും നോക്കാം.
പക്ഷെ ഇതു പോലുള്ള പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് എങ്ങനെ ഉത്തരം കണ്ടെത്താനാകും എന്നതിനാണ് നമ്മുടെ ഗണിതബ്ലോഗ് പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുക്കുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സാധ്യമായ എല്ലാ വിലകളും കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന ആ മാര്‍ഗമാണ് നിസ്സാരമെന്നു തോന്നാവുന്ന ഈ പ്രശ്നത്തോടൊപ്പം നാം തിരയുന്നത്. ഒപ്പം സമാനരീതിയിലുള്ള ചോദ്യങ്ങളും ചര്‍ച്ചാ വിഷയങ്ങളാക്കാം.

(the nos 26 & 5 can be found using continued fraction)
ie 99*5000-19*26000=1000 ------(2)
(1)-(2) gives
99(5000-y) = 19(z+26000)
(z+26000)/99 = (5000-y)/19 = t say
it implies that
z= 99t-26000, y= 5000-19t
since x & y are integers > 0, t is also integer > 0
it follows that 26000/99 < t < 5000/19
ie 262+ 62/99 < 263 +3/19
since t is an integer t = 263
then z=37 y =3 & x =960
I shall provide another similar problem. We can easily solve by Eulers Division lemma or using continued fractions

Answer to the bus question: 34 km/h.
Assuming the usual speed as x km/h,
680/x - 680/(x+6) = 3
Rearranging,
x^2 + 6x - 1360 = 0
Solving, x = 34 or -40.
So, the answer is 34 km/h. It takes 20 hours to cover 680 km. When the speed becomes 34+6 = 20 km/h, the same distance is covered in 17 hours, 3 hours less than before.

My qn. about speed is simple and it is meant for discussion in the primary class.
take the factors of 680 .then 2,4,5 ,8,10,17,20,34,40,68....
children know the relation with (or teacher helps them) Time ,Sspeed and Distance.
ask them to find 680/2,680/4............680/34,680/40,680/68.
then collect the answers.
from this , they may came across 680/34=20;680/40=17,which satisfies the condition.( qn is meant not for hurt the pupils,but ..........

Sure. Some puzzles have surprisingly simpler solutions if we compute backwards from the final value. But I could not find one for this puzzle.

Your solution assumes that the answer is an integer. It is not mentioned in the question, so it will not be right to assume that. Sure, good puzzles have that property, but relying on that may lead us astray. So, I am not in favor of that solution.
However, I feel that it has a simpler solution than the one I gave-means, using simple arithmetic instead of algebra.
