Answer to Question No.5 is
nth term is f+(n-1)d where f is the first term and d is the common difference.
Therefore 20th term of AP having C.D (d) and First term 3 is 3+19d
20th term of AP having C.D (d) and First term 8 is 8+19d
Difference is (8+19d) - (3+19d)= 5
Generally,f1 + (n-1)d - f2 + (n-1)d = f1 - f2 (if f1>f2)

lotusses blossoms like an AP =9,15,21,......
(a). lotusses blossom in 30th day=30th term of the AP= t30=a+29d=9+(29*6)=9+174=183
(b). lotuses that blossom in all 30 days= sum to 30 terms of the AP= S30=n/2(2a+(n-1)d)=30/2(2*9+29*6)=15*192=2880
(c). it means 783 is a term of this AP. so let us assume that 783 is the nth term of this sequence. so by equation a+(n-1)d=783
9+(n-1)6=783
9+6n-6=783
6n+3=783
6n=780
n=780/6
n=130
ie, 783 is the 130th term of this AP which means 783 lotusses will blossom in 130th day.. thank you all...

please give me the answer to the following question :-prove that the squares of all terms the A.P.4,7,10,13,......includes in the same A.P.

Unknown August 2, 2015 at 8:19 PM

please give me the answer to the following question :-prove that the squares of all terms the A.P.4,7,10,13,......includes in the same A.P.

Unknown August 5, 2015 at 6:50 PM

The nth term of this AP is Tn=4+(n-1)3=3n+1

The series is 4,7,10,13....

By inspection the squares are 16,49,100,169 ..if these are part of the same AP then they should satisfy the equation 3n+1 because they would be "some term" of the AP, what we need to find is which term of the AP is square of 4,7,10,13 etc

So for 16 we can say 16=3n+1 gives n=5
for 49 we can say 49=3n+1 giving n=16
for 100 we can say 100=3n+1 giving n=33 and so on ...

We see from the above that squares satisfy the nth term and hence would be part of the AP.
