ഒരു കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറില്‍ത്തന്നെ രണ്ട് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസ്റ്റങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യാന്‍ സാധാരണഗതിയില്‍ മിക്കവര്‍ക്കും ഭയമാണ്. പാര്‍ട്ടീഷന്‍ ചെയ്യലും ഇന്‍സ്റ്റലേഷനുമെല്ലാം പരിചയമില്ലാത്തവരെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം തലവേദന തന്നെയാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇത്തരം പ്രശ്നങ്ങളൊന്നുമില്ലാതെ ഒരു സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയര്‍ ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യുന്ന ലാഘവത്തോടെ നമുക്ക് അടുത്ത ഓപ്പറേറ്റിങ് സിസ്റ്റത്തെ ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്താലോ? അതായത് ലിനക്സ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന സിസ്റ്റത്തില്‍ നമുക്ക് വിന്ഡോസ് ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യാനും വിന്ഡോസ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന സിസ്റ്റത്തില്‍ ലിനക്സ് ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യാനുമൊക്കെ സാധിക്കും. ഇതിനു സഹായിക്കുന്ന സോഫ്റ്റ്വെയറാണ് വിര്‍ച്വല്‍ ബോക്സ്. സ്ക്രീന്‍ഷോട്ടുകള്‍ സഹിതം ഈ അറിവ് നമുക്ക് പങ്കുവെക്കുന്നത് പാലക്കാട് വാരോട് KPSMM VHSS ലെ പ്ലസ് ടു കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ ആപ്ലിക്കേഷന്‍ രണ്ടാം വര്‍ഷ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയായ മുഹമ്മദ് അഫ്സലാണ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം ആഗസ്റ്റിലാണ് അഫ്സല് ഇതേക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ലേഖനം മാത്സ് ബ്ലോഗിലേക്ക് അയച്ചു തന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍ പരീക്ഷ കഴിയട്ടെയെന്ന ഒരു തീരുമാനം ബ്ലോഗ് ടീം എടുത്തതു കൊണ്ടാണ് ഏറെ ഉപകാരപ്രദമായ ലേഖനമായിട്ടു കൂടി മാത്സ് ബ്ലോഗ് ഈ ലേഖനം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്നതിന് നീട്ടി വെച്ചത്. താഴെ ലേഖനത്തോടൊപ്പം വിര്‍ച്വല്‍ ബോക്സ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ചിത്രങ്ങളും നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങളുടെ സംശയങ്ങളും അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളും പങ്കുവെക്കുമല്ലോ.
Ubuntu Software Center ല് നിന്നോ www.virtualbox.org നിന്നോ Virtual Box Download ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്. ഇത് ഒരു OS നുള്ളില്‍ മറ്റൊരു OS ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കാന്‍ നമ്മെ സഹായിക്കുന്നു.
ചിത്രത്തില്‍ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് പോലെ Ubuntu വിനകത്ത് Windows ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യാം. അതിനായി ആദ്യം Virtual Box ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യണം. Ubuntu Software Center ല് നിന്നോ http://www.virtualbox.org നിന്നോ Virtual Box Download ചെയ്ത് ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്.
ഇനി ഇതില്‍ Windows ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യുന്നത് എങ്ങനെയെന്ന് നോക്കാം.
1. ആദ്യം Virtual Box ഓപ്പണ്‍ ചെയ്യുക.
2. മെയിന്‍ വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ കാണുന്ന “New” എന്ന ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
3. തുടര്‍ന്ന് വരുന്ന വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ "Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
4. അടുത്ത വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍
Name : Windows XP
Operating System : Microsoft Windows
Version : Windows XP
എന്ന് നല്‍കുക."Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
5. Base Memory Size : 192 നല്‍കാം. "Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
6. “Create new hard disk” എന്ന ഓപ്ഷന്‍ ബട്ടണ്‍ സെലക്ട് ചെയ്മ് "Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
7. അടുത്ത വിന്‍ഡോയിലും "Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.8. അടുത്ത വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ "Dynamically Expanding Storage” എന്ന ഓപ്ഷന്‍ ബട്ടണ്‍ സെലക്ട് ചെയ്മ് "Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
9. അടുത്ത വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ “Location” , “Size” ഉം നല്‍കുക."Next” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക
10.അടുത്ത വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ "Finish” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.11. മെയിന്‍ വിന്‍ഡോയില്‍ നിന്ന് Windows XP സെലക്ട് ചെയ്യുക.
12. CD Drive ല് Windows XP യുടെ CD ഇടുക. “Start” ബട്ടണ്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക.
13. ഇതിനകത്ത് Windows XP ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്യുക.
14. ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്തതിനു ശേഷം Windows XP ഉപയോഗിച്ച് തുടങ്ങാം. വിര്‍ച്വല്‍ ബോക്സ് വഴി വിന്ഡോസ് ഇന്സ്റ്റാള് ചെയ്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴുള്ള ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍.
നിങ്ങളുടെ സംശയങ്ങളും അഭിപ്രായങ്ങളും കമന്റായി താഴെ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുമല്ലോ.
രണ്ടോ മൂന്നോ o .s . മിക്ക സിസ്റ്റങ്ങളിലും ഇന്‍സ്റ്റോള്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട് . സാധാരണഗതിയില്‍ , മെമ്മറി കൂടിയ സിസ്റ്റങ്ങളില്‍ വലിയ പ്രശ്നമില്ലാതെ അതെല്ലാം പ്രവര്‍ ത്തിക്കുന്നുമുണ്ടാകും . എന്നാല്‍ പരമ്പരാഗത രീതിയില്‍ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായി Virtual Box ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പല O .S . ഇന്‍സ്റ്റോള്‍ ചെയ്താലുള്ള മെച്ചം എന്താണെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞില്ല . ലിനക്സില്‍ നിന്ന് കൊണ്ട് വിന്ഡോസ് -ലെ ഫയലുകള്‍ പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പിക്കാം എന്നത് പോലെ വിന്ഡോസ് - ല് നിന്ന് കൊണ്ട് ലിനക്സ് ഫയലുകള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ ത്തിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ Virtual Box ഉപയോഗിച്ച് സാധിക്കുമോ ?

ReplyDeleteMany websites have tutorials on setting up dual-boots between Windows and Ubuntu. A dual-boot allows you, at boot time, to decide which operating system you want to use. Installing Ubuntu on a virtual machine inside of Windows has a lot advantages over a dual-boot (but also a few disadvantages).
Advantages of virtual installation
The size of the installation doesn't have to be predetermined. It can be a dynamically resized virtual hard drive.
You do not need to reboot in order to switch between Ubuntu and Windows.
The virtual machine will use your Windows internet connection, so you don't have to worry about Ubuntu not detecting your wireless card, if you have one.
The virtual machine will set up its own video configuration, so you don't have to worry about installing proprietary graphics drivers to get a reasonable screen resolution.
You always have Windows to fall back on in case there are any problems. All you have to do is press the right Control key instead of rebooting your entire computer.
For troubleshooting purposes, you can easily take screenshots of any part of Ubuntu (including the boot menu or the login screen).
It's low commitment. If you later decide you don't like Ubuntu, all you have to do is delete the virtual hard drive and uninstall VirtualBox.
Disadvantages of virtual installation
In order to get any kind of decent performance, you need at least 512 MB of RAM, because you are running an entire operating system (Ubuntu) inside another entire operating system (Windows). The more memory, the better. I would recommend at least 1 GB of RAM.
Even though the low commitment factor can seem like an advantage at first, if you later decide you want to switch to Ubuntu and ditch Windows completely, you cannot simply delete your Windows partition. You would have to find some way to migrate out your settings from the virtual machine and then install Ubuntu over Windows outside the virtual machine.
Every time you want to use Ubuntu, you have to wait for two boot times (the time it takes to boot Windows, and then the time it takes to boot Ubuntu within Windows).

ഇതു രണ്ടും എപ്പോഴും ശരിയാകണം എന്നില്ല. ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഒ എസിൽ ഡ്റൈവറുകൾ ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഇതു രണ്ടും എടുത്തോളണം എന്നില്ല.

ReplyDeleteBut VirtualBox is not stable enough. Especially when you want to access the Installed OS over network, or you need to use the Virtual machine more than 1 hour. Prefer VMPlayer (Freeware). You can download it from here.

Data entry യ്ക്ക് ശേഷം statement ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ item 1 മുതല്‍ 5 വരെയുള്ളത് default ആയി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന data തന്നെയാണ് കിട്ടുന്നത് .അതിനുശേഷം O.k.
